
The International Green Week ( Grüne Woche ) is the world’s biggest exhibition for the food, agricultural, and horticultural industries. Established in 1926 it takes place for the 77th time in 2012. Countries from around the world presenting their culinary delights to over 400.000 visitors.
So it’s all about food, how to produce it, how to cook it, how to eat it. 26 hall complexes covering an area of 115,000 square metres. Approximately 100,000 items of food, luxury foods and beverages from all over the world, thousands of pets and over 30,000 plants in bloom are just some of the impressive statistics of this event.
Ever wanted to try a Crocodile Burger, a Kangaroo Steak or an Elk Schnaps? What about the famous English Toffee, German Käsespätzle or a Shark Soup? With a new scent around every corner, I had a lot of fun eating all the different things I’ve never tasted before.

Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara were in Berlin today at Sony Center – Potzdamer Platz, for the German Premiere of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (the German title for this Movie is Verblendung which means something like blindness or delusion).
The Movie (directed by David Fincher, known for his movies Fight Club, Se7en or Social Network) is about the Journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the computer hacker Lisbeth Salander, who are searching for a woman who has been missing, or dead, for forty years. The book, written by Stieg Larsson,was one of the best selling novels of the 20th-Century.
And in case you’re wondering, it’s not the 2009 Swedish version, it’s a completely new “rehash” straight from Hollywood.

Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek and director Chris Miller walked the red carpet today at Sony Center Berlin to promote their newest Movie, Puss in Boots (Ger: Der gestiefelte Kater).
Puss in boots (Antonio Banderas), known from the famous “Shrek” series got his own Movie which tells the story of a little cat who tries to escape an orphanage with his friends Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek) by stealing golden eggs from a castle in the sky.

Today was a special day for Team Edward and Team Jacob, the German Premiere of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 at Sony Center in Berlin with Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and director Bill Condon, unfortunately without co-star Kristen Stewart. About 3.000 screaming young (and not so young) girls had the chance to get an autograph or to take a picture with their beloved actor.

I got an invitation from the Japanese-German Center Berlin, to take a look at their newest Exhibition, “Looking at Asia“, a selection of different puppets created by Furuta Aya a puppet creator from Nagano/Suwa.
Furuta Aya earned many awards since she created her first puppet in 1977 and was also featured at the TBS Doll Show in Tokyo this year. Now, for the first time ever, she brought her puppets to Germany, to celebrate the “150 Years of Friendship between Germany and Japan”.
So if you have some time to spare, the exhibition will be held till January 6th 2012 and the entry is free.

Once again, one of the largest illumination festivals in the world, the Festival of Lights, takes place in Berlin and world-famous landmarks and monuments are dressed in spectacular light. German and international artists and lighting designers present extraordinary illuminations, light art and creative designs. All 81 illuminated buildings will shine in different colors until October 23th daily from 7:30pm till 0:00am.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the relationship between Germany and Japan, light was used to project the word “Peace” in languages from around the world on Berlin’s most representative landmark, the Brandenburg Gate. One program, 2 different Parts, with orchestral music and an amazing art-light-show, enchanted hundreds of visitors for about 30 minutes.

IFA 2011 is coming to an end, tomorrow will be the last chance to visit the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances.
The world’s most important and largest trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances, IFA 2011, began on 2 September with a further 4 per cent increase in the rented display area and 1,441 exhibitors (+ 1%). Taking as its slogan this year “Get in touch”, it resumes its successful progress as it continues to consolidate its leading position in the world.

The Kurfürstendamm received a fantastic birthday present, huge helium-filled fairytale creatures designed by the French artists’ group Plasticiens Volants, a fish, sea snakes, dragons, lizards, birds and a gigantic “Happy birthday, Ku’damm” hot air balloon with more than 40 French and Berlin-based artists in costumes or on stilts. From Halensee to Breitscheidplatz, tens of thousands celebrated this special open air theater.

Oberbaum-Bridge 2011, a war between two districts, a war between Kreuzberg (Xberg) and Friedrichshain (Fhain), a war with everything you can throw but won’t hurt people. Since 1998, each summer, people of all kinds and all ages meet up at Oberbaum-Bridge Berlin to fight an anarchic battle with rotten fruits, water-bombs and similar harmless objects.
This year’s winner and therefore the new champion of the bridge is Kreuzberg.
