Best of Berlin 2012

The year 2012 is almost over and it was amazing, with lots of movie premieres, fairs, flash mobs and of course, events. Many stars and artists visited Berlin, we celebrated the 775th anniversary and st patrick’s day, the new airport got delayed till 2013, the earth hour took place again this year and the Coca Cola Christmas Trucks were back in town.

But that’s not all, I’ve listed up some of the most interesting articles from the previous 12 months, so if you’ve missed something, take a look, some of these events will be back in 2013 and some of them will never happen again. Post Update: RAF Laarbruch – Military Airbase

One of the most-read articles of 2010 and 2011 was the RAF Laarbruch – Abandoned Military Airbase which is quite surprising, I never thought that such an article would be so popular.

Therefore, I went back to North Rhine-Westphalia, to take a couple more pictures to give you a better overview of the whole area. Well, that was the plan, but I had to notice, that many companies bought or leased properties around the airport and many of the old buildings were refurbished or demolished, to make place for a more modern architecture but I hope you will get an idea on how it looked like about 50 years ago.

I’m really happy that I went there once again to take these pictures because by the end of the year, the “old” Military Airbase will be almost gone.

Since 2010 the vast outside area is being used as a city park and therefore a perfect place for activities like kiting, skating, biking, running and even RC cars can be seen from time to time.
