Blue Man Group Wax Figures at Madame Tussauds Berlin

I got another invitation from Madame Tussauds Berlin to take some pictures of their newest attraction, the Blue Man Group. After Lady Gaga and Freddy Mercury, this is my third article from Berlin’s House of Wax.

Founded in 1988 the Blue Man Group have numerous albums, stage shows around the world, and have reached iconic status, all without saying a word.

You can visit the three Blue Men, Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton at Madame Tussauds Berlin till May 2011, after that, they will travel back to their home location, Las Vegas.

Freddie Mercury Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds Berlin

Freddie Mercury is in town and for the next 3 month, you can meet him at Madame Tussauds Berlin, right beside Peter Maffay, Madonna and Bono.

Freddie Mercury was a British musician, best known as the lead vocalist and a songwriter of the rock band Queen. The wax figure, which was created in 1989 for the cabinet in London, before he died in 1991, was moved to Berlin to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band and the 65th birthday of Freddy Mercury himself.

Berlinale 2011, Hollywood in Berlin

The City of Berlin has placed a 14 meters high and 53 meters wide Hollywood Sign in the middle of the Tiergarten between the Brandenburg Gate and the Potsdamer Platz.

The Holly- wait.. there is only one L? Oh boy, something went terribly wrong…

Just kidding, the Holywood Sign is a creation by the artist and filmmaker Ralf Schmerberg and part of a Climate Protection campaign, to plant 10.000 new trees all across the City.

So from now on, it’s “Welcome to HolyWood”.

Berlinale 2011, Helena Bonham Carter

Finally I had some time to visit this years Berlinale at Potsdamer Platz and lucky me got some shots of Helena Bonham Carter as she left the Hyatt Hotel near the Berlinale Palace to promote the new movie “The King’s Speech”.

Helena is well known for her role as Bellatrix Lestrange in Joan K Rowlings Harry Potter or on the Side of Johnny Depp as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd.

Berlin Christmas Bike Tour – Santa Claus on Road

The Christmas Bike Tour this year was a bit small, probably because the weather was just awful, but heavy rain can’t harm a real biker.

The Christmas Bike Tour is an annual event where hundreds of bikers, dressed in Christmas costumes, are driving through the city giving gifts, they have collected during the year, to poor children and social institutions.

Lady Gaga Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds Berlin

A wax figure of pop idol Lady Gaga was unveiled today at Madame Tussauds in Berlin and simultaneously, in seven other cities across the globe.

The figures, each dressed differently in celebration of the star’s provocative style, were created over four months in West London, with each one costing £150,000.
