Herzgrün Festival Berlin 2014

Every year, and this year, for the 9th time, the Sony Center acts as a venue for free live concerts to celebrate the beginning of Spring in the City, the Herzgrün Festival.

In two large greenhouses, many local and international musicians and bands perform in front of a group of up to 90 people, surrounded by a vast variety of beautiful flowers and plants.

From Hip hop to jazz, pop, electronic, country, indie, folk and dance, every genre is represented on a musical trip through the world of love songs.

Berlin Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day 2014

It’s St. Patrick’s Day and thousands of Irish locals celebrated this day in Berlin with live bagpipe music (provided by the Berlin Pipe Company), a huge parade and a live concert with international guests at Berlin’s Arena, with the best of traditional Irish music, Irish dance and Irish food and drinks.

After everything started in 2011, organized by the Irish Society of Berlin, 2014 was the fourth year in a row the green festival was celebrated in Berlin.

Best of Berlin 2013

It’s 2014, welcome to a new year of exciting and interesting events and festivals in Berlin!

But let’s remember what happened last year, while movie premieres clearly dominated the year of 2013 and traditional events like the Green Week, St Patrick’s Day or the Oberbaum Bridge Water Fight were back in town, Berlin also had a good variety of new events, like the celebration of HOLI in Germany, President Barack Obama’s visit to Berlin, the European Kendo Championships or David Hasselhoff’s attempt to save the wall.

International Green Week 2013

The International Green Week 2013 (ger: Grüne Woche) in Berlin came to an end, again with over 1,600 exhibitors from 67 countries. Over 400.000 visitors had the opportunity, to take a journey and enjoy a culinary experience of five continents, with something to suit every taste. If it’s dried bison meat from Canada, a Bulgarian dessert made with rose jam or some Austrian vegetables and fruits filled with cheese. Culinary curiosity knows no boundaries.

Berlin Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day 2012

It’s St. Patrick’s Day around the globe and everyone is celebrating this special day with lots of green and lots of beer. Also for the first time, landmarks throughout the world have been illuminated green to mark the day, for example, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Niagara Falls, the London Eye, the Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai, the Cibeles fountain in Madrid, the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, the Table Mountain in Cape Town and the Television Tower in Berlin.

Berlin had his very own St. Patrick’s Day parade and about one thousand Irish tourists and locals marched to bagpipe music through the city.

International Green Week 2012

The International Green Week (ger: Grüne Woche) is the world’s biggest exhibition for the food, agricultural, and horticultural industries. Established in 1926 it takes place for the 77th time in 2012. Countries from around the world presenting their culinary delights to over 400.000 visitors.

So it’s all about food, how to produce it, how to cook it, how to eat it. 26 hall complexes covering an area of 115,000 square metres. Approximately 100,000 items of food, luxury foods and beverages from all over the world, thousands of pets and over 30,000 plants in bloom are just some of the impressive statistics of this event.

Ever wanted to try a Crocodile Burger, a Kangaroo Steak or an Elk Schnaps? What about the famous English Toffee, German Käsespätzle or a Shark Soup? With a new scent around every corner, I had a lot of fun eating all the different things I’ve never tasted before.

Color Changing Berlin

Winter is coming, well not yet, but soon. Right now, fall is in the air and Berlin changes its color from green to red and yellow. Sometimes, I take a walk in the park early in the morning and this time, it was Berlin’s Tiergarten (German for Animal Garden) which surrounds the Victors Column in the borough of Mitte.

Walking through all these beautiful colored trees gives you a relaxed feeling and what else do you need for a good start in the day.
