The Berlin international film festival, or Berlinale 2014, started today with a grand opening, the world premiere of The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Members of the movie’s cast, like Bill Murray, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Willem Dafoe, Edward Norton, Saoirse Ronan and many more, together with this year’s International Jury, which will decide who will receive the Golden Bear and Silver Bears of the 2014 Berlinale Competition, were today’s special guests.

The World Premiere of the movie Bel Ami was held today at the Berlinale Palast – Potsdamer Platz as part of this year’s International Film Festival in Berlin. The story of Bel Ami chronicles journalist Georges Duroy’s corrupt rise to power from a poor ex-NCO to one of the most successful men in Paris, most of which he achieves by manipulating a series of powerful, intelligent, and wealthy mistresses.
Robert Pattinson, who plays the role of the main character “Georges Duroy”, as well as his Co-Stars Christina Ricci and Holliday Grainger walked the red carpet while giving autographs and taking pictures with their fans. Sadly, Uma Thurman canceled her flight this morning, she had an appointment for the new US-Series Smash and wasn’t able to attend today’s special event.

Up to 400 films are shown every year, more than 19,000 film professionals from 136 countries, including about 4,000 journalists, are accredited for the Berlin International Film Festival every year.
The Berlin International Film Festival sees itself as a showcase for what is happening in cinema, but also as an actor and propagator on the international film circuit.
