Star Wars Identities, the original Star Wars Exhibition traveling around the globe, was held at the Odysseum in Cologne. Over 200 original Star Wars costumes, models, props, and pieces of artwork were exhibited to discover up close (many of them for the first time) and a unique interactive identity quest allowed you to design your own Star Wars Hero.
R2-D2, Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, Anakin’s full-sized Podracer and other favorites, like Yoda, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Princess Leia, Stormtroopers, and Darth Vader, the collection features all six Star Wars movies as well as the ongoing television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
In 2015, the world’s biggest trade fair for interactive games and entertainment, the GamesCom, got even bigger, with 345.000 visitors from from 96 countries and took place in Cologne, from 05. – 09. August 2015.
GamesCom, the world’s biggest trade fair for interactive games and entertainment took place in Cologne, from August 13 – 17, 2014. 335.000 gamers, trade visitors and journalists traveled to Cologne’s fair grounds to celebrate the “next generation of gaming” with over 700 exhibitor from 47 different countries.
Gamescom 2013 is over and after a wonderful week in Cologne, I’m back in Berlin.
This year, over 340,000 gamers, trade visitors and journalists visited the largest computer and video games trade fair worldwide. Over 635 exhibitors from 40 countries presented 400 world premiers, including for the first time in history two new consoles – PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
And don’t let the pictures below fool you, the only day it was “empty” was on press-day, the picture above pretty much tells you everything.
I spent the last week in Cologne, to visit this year’s gamescom (fourth time now without visiting the Cologne Cathedral, next time for sure!) and like last year I got invited by different developers and publishers to watch a couple of presentations about upcoming games.
As always, to get more information about your favorite games, just visit the different gaming websites.
I also took some time to walk around and take some photos, most of them are from the press day, the public days this year were just too crowded.
One of the most-read articles of 2010 and 2011 was the RAF Laarbruch – Abandoned Military Airbase which is quite surprising, I never thought that such an article would be so popular.
Therefore, I went back to North Rhine-Westphalia, to take a couple more pictures to give you a better overview of the whole area. Well, that was the plan, but I had to notice, that many companies bought or leased properties around the airport and many of the old buildings were refurbished or demolished, to make place for a more modern architecture but I hope you will get an idea on how it looked like about 50 years ago.
I’m really happy that I went there once again to take these pictures because by the end of the year, the “old” Military Airbase will be almost gone.

GamesCom 2011 is over with a new record of 275.000 visitors (254.000 in 2010) and I’m finally back in Berlin. I had a lot of fun and it was really interesting talking to the different developers, publishers, news agencies, magazines and fan-websites about upcoming and released games. I also took a lot of pictures during my time in Cologne and after you’ve seen the press day, here are the remaining ones from this year’s public days.
Welcome to the World’s largest trade fair and event highlight for interactive games and entertainment, with 550 exhibitors (500 in 2010) and almost 40 countries (33 in 2010) on 120.000 m² of floor space. Okay, enough with the numbers, here are the first pictures from this years press day at Gamescom Cologne 2011.
Another trip, another Cosplay Convention, another Concert, this time, in Bonn. The Japanese Eurodance group Shanadoo was on stage on one of Germany’s biggest annual Anime Conventions, the AnimagiC with about 13,500 visitors in 2011.
Shanadoo is an all female group made up of four young Japanese women, which were quite famous in Germany in 2006 with their singles King Kong and My Samurai and it seems like they are trying for a comeback in 2011.
I’m in Munich right now at this year’s Animuc in Fürstenfeldbruck. The Animuc is a cosplay convention for the southern part of Germany. This year’s special Guest is the japanese singer and writer Yuuki, today she gave a little concert for a few hundred visitors and I was really lucky to get some amazing shot of this great show.
