Berlin Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day 2013

For the third time now, St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated in Berlin, with a big Parade, an Open Air Concert, Irish music, Irish dance and typical foods and drinks.

Saint Patrick’s Day , Ireland’s national day, is a cultural and religious holiday, celebrated every year on March 17th around the world. It is named after Saint Patrick, the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland.

Over two thousand Irish and German locals and tourists participated on the parade through the borough of Kreuzberg.

Maybe not the best Snow Batman out there


But definitely newsworthy. Building a Snowman never gets old, especially when you create something different. The builder of this frosty fella was apparently a fan of a famous DC Superhero and even without his arms, he looks quite intimidating, standing in front of the Berlin Reichstag.

The Stuffed Polar Bear Knut

On December 5th, 2006, a polar bear named Knut was born at the Berlin Zoological Garden. He was the first polar bear who survived past infancy in more than 30 years. Quickly, he became a celebrity and was center of a mass media phenomenon all around the globe.

After he died at the age of four, on March 19th, 2011, he got stuffed and can now be seen in the foyer of the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin, free of charge, until May 5th 2013.

After that, he will be added to the scientific research collections of the Museum and will not be displayed in another exhibition before 2014.

Hideo Kojima Autograph Session in Berlin

Hideo Kojima, creator of the famous Metal Gear Video Game Series, visited Berlin yesterday, February 23rd, for an autograph session, which was part of a promotion campaign for his newest work: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Hundreds waited in line to get their copy signed by one of the most influential and innovative video game directors and writers in the industry. The art director of the Metal Gear Series Yoji Shinkawa was also present.

Berlinale 2013, Side Effects World Premiere

The 63rd Berlinale is in full swing, actors, directors, writers and producers from all over the world are now in Berlin, to present their newest creations. Today the world premiere of the movie Side Effects took place at the Berlinale Palast Theater – Potsdamer Platz, actors Jude Law and Rooney Mara together with director Steven Soderbergh were part of the Event.

And because the movie was part of this years competition, this years international jury (Wong Kar Wai, Susanne Bier, Andreas Dresen, Ellen Kuras, Shirin Neshat, Tim Robbins and Athina Rachel Tsangari) was also on the guest list.

A Good Day to Die Hard World Premiere Berlin

Yippee ki-yay, M*th*rf*ck*r, it’s a good day to die hard.

Two days before the official start of the Berlinale 2013, the world premiere of A good Day to Die Hard (ger: Stirb langsam – Ein guter Tag zum Sterben) took place in Berlin. Jai Courtney (who plays John McClane son Jack), the German actor Sebastian Koch (who plays the Russian Komarov) and the one and only Bruce Willis together with his wife Emma Heming-Willis walked the carpet in the middle of the Sony Center, surrounded by hundreds of screaming fans.

International Green Week 2013

The International Green Week 2013 (ger: Grüne Woche) in Berlin came to an end, again with over 1,600 exhibitors from 67 countries. Over 400.000 visitors had the opportunity, to take a journey and enjoy a culinary experience of five continents, with something to suit every taste. If it’s dried bison meat from Canada, a Bulgarian dessert made with rose jam or some Austrian vegetables and fruits filled with cheese. Culinary curiosity knows no boundaries.
